Have I known awe

The way I did

The day my love

Laid you on my breast

Warm, wet and new

So small, so ALIVE!!!

Looked into my eyes

With a look of so much

Wisdom

Have I known complete surrender

Of my heart, of my world.

 

It was when I saw

Your little hands and feet

Wiggling fingers and toes

That I could not help but to

Smile and cry

All at once.

 

Not until your first grin

Had I ever known a joy

Almost as bright and warm

As the morning sun.

 

It was when

Your little hand

Gripped a lock of my hair

That I knew

I belonged to you

Your spirit

Gripping my heart.

 

When I kissed

Your soft cherub lips

I felt you breath

Life into me.

Filling me with

A gentleness…

Awakening a tenderness

Rarely shown before.

 

Before you

The reasons seemed vague

My life was

Only my own.

Now with you to love

The reasons are many

And oh so clear…

Mornings are bright now,
