Ah, gardening! What better therapy for a busy life than taking the time to grow fresh food for your family? These pages will be a chronicle of my garden, and I hope you find it interesting.
Year 2000
Well, the new millenium was a bust for gardening. I had to treat the lawn for grubs and didn't want to grow vegetables in the newly-treated soil so we didn't plant a garden this year. I didn't really have time to get out there and do all the weeding and thinning anyway. Our three blueberry bushes failed to yield any fruit worth picking, too. In 1999, when we had that hot, dry summer we had a decent crop. This year was cooler and more wet, so I don't really know what went wrong. I'll have to read about
growing blueberries in Massachusetts and see if I can't get a better harvest next year.
Next year will be different. Lisa and I are excited about having fresh vegetables so I've already started preparing the garden plot.
Year 2001
Well, 2001 was no kinder. The blueberries were bitter, and most of the plants in the garden failed to produce. Our early harvests of snap peas and snow peas was good, and I did get a small crop of red bliss potatoes that were tasty. Half of my seeds never made it into the ground, and what I did plant did poorly.
